For people looking for natural Fibromyalgia pain relief that can be used in conjunction with any prescribed medications could look no further than fibromyalgia and Reiki. But what exactly are the healing benefits of Reiki and what can it do to help someone with fibromyalgia?”

Apparently the most common benefits of Reiki for fibromyalgia sufferers is that it alleviates the major symptoms of the disorder, specifically since Reiki is a highly effective method for treating the symptomatic conditions commonly found among fibromyalgia sufferers – pain and fatigue.

The practice of Reiki promotes holistic healing among its patients and a Reiki therapist using specific hand patterns and positions will normally carry out process, although you can be taught to do this yourself. The therapist moves his hands over a patient – just a few inches above the body - over various body parts to feel for energy blockages.

Then they will lay their hands on the patient in a set fashion, leaving them in place for between 3 – 20 minutes, depending on the blockages present. The areas they concentrate on are the chest, back, abdomen, head and joints in a choreographed healing fashion channeling life-force energy over the patient. Then

For fibromyalgia patients, the process involves having the fully clothed patient either sit on a reclined chair or lie down to make them feel relaxed. Session last around 60 – 90 minutes and with chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia long term treatment will probably be recommended.

Reiki originated from Asia, and simply means ‘universal life force energy’. It was practiced by Buddhist monks for over a thousand years and was passed on through generations.

Reiki practitioners believe that it is a powerful healing process using natural universal energy that keeps us alive, and is the energy responsible for the body’s ability to heal itself. It is this energy that flows through the hands of what is called the ‘Reiki channel’ in a concentrated and powerful energy form on to the body to correct the energy imbalance of the patient.

Although Reiki is a natural healing form – a therapeutic process - and is not meant as a cure for diseases, it complements and can also work as a support mechanism to conventional disease treatment in cases where medication is generally required.

Specifically, Reiki is not a cure for any condition, even fibromyalgia, however, its healing benefits enhances over-all health and general well being and can relieve patients of fatigue and pain-related symptoms.

Realistically Reiki is not for everybody, however it may be worth a try as for those who do find it beneficial the results can be quite significant.

Fibromyalgia affects millions of people in the United States, mostly women, regardless of age or social status, and no firm conclusions have been established pinpointing the cause of the disorder.

However, thousands of fibromyalgia sufferers have benefited from Reiki and although it is not a proven cure-all for fibromyalgia, it can provide fibromyalgia patients with the hope that there are alternative and holistic solutions to treating this disease. Be it fibromyalgia and Reiki or conventional treatment, the final decision rests with the patient, whichever they find suitable and comfortable for them.

I have found Reiki treatments invaluable to keeping my fibromyalgia at a livable level. I found it such a help over the months, I became a Reiki Master myself. I share this wonderful thing with anyone who asks me, an exchange has to be made, but not necessarily money. We feel lack of funds, should not stop you from benefiting from the wonder that is Reiki, we all have something we can give in exchange. I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you for all your newsletters. It is nice to know that some of my symptoms are not just a figment of my imagination. Just to let you know that i have tried reiki but not found it very useful personally.

Keep up the good work - all i get from my GP is keep taking the painkillers which are incidentally co-codamol.

I have Fibromyalgia. I do Reiki on myself using absent healing method. I also meditate using TM method. I have been using these techniques for many years long before I got fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue which I have had for 6 years.I feel these things lift the fatigue enough to get me thru’ the day. I am not being treated for fibro. as I reacted badly to the drugs which are only just painkillers anyway. The syndrome i think is due to serious events in my life and know there is something I am missing…to help myself further. Thanks for all you help. Barbara V.
